State Park Advisories

All park visitors should be reminded and advised that much of the park land and waters are open to hunting.  With the opening of some waterfowl seasons, including Canada Geese, on September 1, and various hunting and trapping seasons occurring through the fall and winter months, it is recommended that visitors wear high visibility orange as an added precaution while recreating at the park.

Contrary to the information on Google, Pennsylvania state parks are open every day of the year. Day use areas close at dusk. Park offices are open specific hours. Pools, beaches, and campgrounds are open specific seasons.
The operation of unmanned aircraft, such as drones, is a prohibited activity at McConnells Mill State Park.
Large buses, limousines, RV's, and other extended vehicles should not attempt to travel on the one way section of McConnells Mill Road between the intersections of Kennedy Road and Johnson Road. Due to large boulders and tight turns many vehicles of these type have sustained damage or been stuck along this section in the past. These types of vehicles should park at the Kildoo Day Use Area and visitors can either walk to the Grist Mill from there or arrange for more suitable transportation. Parking at the Grist Mill is extremely limited regardless of vehicle type.
All weddings at McConnells Mill need to be preapproved by calling the Moraine Park Office at 724-368-8811. This is necessary to ensure there are no conflicts with other events or programs and to limit unnecessary stress on your special day.
